David and Lucille Packard Foundation

 Julie Packard is the vice chairperson of the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, the execurive director of the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the chair of the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Instsitute. The MBARI and the associated Monterey Bay Aquarium Foundation have received over $200 million in grants from the Packard Foundation.

The Resources Legacy Foundation is the strongest supporter of the California Marine Life Protection Act, which will establish an extensive network of marine protected areas of the California coast (Moore has given Resources Legacy Foundation almost $15 million - link).
